Thank you Jim for your advice on how to handle negativity.
As the President of PWB (Professional Women in Building) for Northern California I have been exposed to negative remarks either in board meetings or via the email. I'm also a firm believer in turning negative feedback around quickly and this article reinforces it. I also agree that Home Builders like the previous administration ignored their critics in hopes that it would go away, but I feel this is also a mistake. Acknowledgment at the very least imparts being heard and is the first step in coming to a common ground.

Greg - thanks for checking in on the blog! I am lucky to be working with you.

Mike - Thanks! Our 230 lead weekend was definitely a high point, but we have had a lot of success with layered online campaigns and nurturing old databases. Great to hear from you!

Keep the information coming Dawn. As a Sales Management Consultant, as well as a client of Dawn's I can tell you she has been busy because I am helping her stay busy. She understands WHY prospects buy and does an excellent job in building urgency. My communities are meeting all of their first quarter goals and Dawn's work is helping us get there!

Thanks Jim! I agree with you. Politics aside, I am in awe of all of the "hope" and "change" Obama's new media example represents for all of us in the home building industry that are committed to recovery. Thanks so much for your comments.

Dawn, your 7 steps are the new standards for online interaction. No more hiding and pretending it's not there (love the pic - perfect). We need to quickly become comfortable with the ideas of transparency and authenticity.

Pulte should take to heart your 7 steps. Have you seen the YouTube video when doing a Google search for Pulte Homes? Pulte should comment on that - give us the other side of the story. It's been viewed thousands of times and looks really bad.

Hi Dawn, you are dead on. I believe so strongly in the approach Obama has taken with his campaigning and now his Presidency. In my lifetime, I have never seen people dancing in the streets for a new President elect - and in our country's toughest time. His willingness to engage people is having unprecedented impact.

I've been saying for a while now that it is possible for builders to build a Starbucks or a Google type of brand. I think it's more appropriate to say that it is possible for builders to build an Obama brand. Just do what he is doing.

Please keep giving us these types of parallels. Mirroring Obama marketing tactics will boost any builder's image and effectiveness. Thanks, awesome. Keep it coming.
